The White House has accused Chinese AI startup Moonshot of illegally obtaining banned Nvidia Blackwell chips and distilling US AI models to build its Kimi K3 large language model. Officials allege the restricted hardware may have been routed through Thailand, bypassing US export controls.
Moonshot has not yet responded to the allegations. Nvidia stated in a separate comment that it does not exploit export-control loopholes. The case highlights ongoing tensions over semiconductor trade restrictions aimed at limiting China's AI capabilities.
