Calling a cycle end with range bars, median lines, and Fibonacci
A 30-minute EURUSD uptrend can resist a single channel when the steep early advance and later corrections do not share one durable slope. Editorial reading: change the bar definition until a channel is drawable, keep the swing valid only while a median-line channel still contains price, and treat a Fibonacci price target as a cycle turn only when a matching time-cycle marker arrives with it.
- A clock-based EURUSD uptrend can resist one trend channel when the steep early advance and later corrections do not share a durable slope.
- Recasting the same period as 10-pips range bars can reveal a 1-2-3 correction that supports a moderate-slope parallel channel.
- Treat the swing as intact only while a median-line pitchfork still contains price. A close beneath the lower parallel is the cue to start a new pitchfork.
- A Fibonacci price projection is treated as a cycle turn only when a matching Fibonacci time-cycle marker arrives with it.
When one clock-based channel will not fit
A 30-minute EURUSD uptrend can resist a single trend channel across the full visible swing because the steep early advance and later corrections do not share one durable slope.
Editorial reading: cycle calling should not start as a hunt for one trendline on the first bar type that happens to be on the screen. Change the bar definition until a channel is drawable.
Recast the same swing as range bars
Recasting the same EURUSD period as a 10-pips range-bar chart revealed a 1-2-3 correction off a prior-cycle low that supported a moderate-slope uptrend and a parallel channel through the first swing high.
A range-bar completes only after a fixed price span prints, so swings and corrections keep a more uniform geometric scale than clock-based bars. A 1-2-3-correction is a three-swing pullback from a prior-cycle extreme used as the first structural reference for a new trendline or channel.
Keep the channel only while structure holds
That range-bar uptrend was treated as intact while higher lows and higher highs continued. Later higher highs were used to widen the parallel channel.
An only-fractionally higher high after support held at the prior low was read as a possible late-cycle warning that justified a steeper three-touch trendline.
A pitchfork as the second validity test
A median-line is the center ray of a pitchfork drawn through a prior pivot and the midpoint of a later reaction swing. The pitchfork-channel is that median line plus two parallels through the reaction high and low. Price is expected to travel inside this three-line channel and react at the outer rails.
A median-line pitchfork is drawn by pairing a prior pivot with the midpoint of the later 2-3 reaction, then adding parallels through those reaction points. On the same 10-pips EURUSD range-bar sequence, an upward pitchfork anchored on the last 1-2-3 correction and the prior low held price until a close beneath the lower parallel, near the same cycle-end zone found with ordinary channels. Leaving the channel is the cue to start a new pitchfork.
Pair a price projection with a time cycle
A Fibonacci projection is a measured extension of a completed price swing that marks later exhaustion candidates at ratio levels such as 161.8% and 261.8%. A Fibonacci time cycle is a time overlay that treats one completed swing as 100% action and projects later reaction times at Fibonacci-adjusted multiples.
Those time-cycle projections are built as an action-reaction pair: 0% at the start-of-move extreme and 100% at a prior like-kind swing, which then marks later cycle times, including 110.1% and 223.1% in the index example.
The intended setup is to wait until price approaches a Fibonacci price projection and then test whether a time-cycle projection arrives with it. Coincidence of the two is treated as stronger evidence that a cycle high or low is forming. Cycle-confluence is the chart condition in which a projected Fibonacci price target and a projected time-cycle marker arrive together at a swing extreme.
Two worked meetings of price and time
In the S&P 500 example, after wave 1 up and wave 2 down, wave-3 Fibonacci projections at 1643 (161.8%) and 1654 (261.8%) each arrived near a projected time-cycle target. An A-to-B action projection also aligned with a reaction at C on the Fibonacci price target.
In the EURUSD example, a Fibonacci price projection from the advance's starting low and the prior high marked 1.3677 (100%), 1.3713 (161.8%), and 1.3772 (261.8%). The 100% time-action reference was taken at the second prior low after the nearest prior low was judged too close.
Editorial reading: the Fibonacci price levels are not the cycle call on their own. They become a cycle-end hypothesis only when a matching time-cycle marker arrives with them, and only while the pitchfork-channel reading still agrees.
