USD/JPY Retakes 200-Day SMA as Dollar Recovers After Intervention

USD/JPY climbed 0.41% to clear the 200-day SMA at 158.06, recovering ground after two days of FX intervention by US and Japanese authorities.

USDJPY

The USD/JPY pair advanced 0.41% on Thursday, pushing back above its 200-day simple moving average at 158.06. The recovery marks a shift in momentum after the dollar faced heavy selling pressure from coordinated intervention earlier in the week.

Both US and Japanese authorities were active in FX markets for two straight days, aiming to stem yen weakness. That intervention briefly drove the pair lower, but the greenback has since regained footing as traders reassess the policy backdrop.

The 200-day SMA now acts as a key near-term support level, with bulls looking to build on the break above it.
