US July Jobs Report Preview: NFP Expected at 80K
Markets await the July Non-Farm Payrolls with expectations of 80,000 new jobs, up from 57,000 in June. The unemployment rate may rise slightly to 4.3%.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the July labour market report today at 1330 BST.
Economists forecast non-farm payrolls of 80,000, compared to 57,000 in June. The unemployment rate is expected to edge up to 4.3%, mostly due to a rounding effect, while average hourly earnings are seen rising 0.3% month-on-month.
The data could sway Federal Reserve policy expectations. Traders will be looking for a weak print that would support the case for interest-rate cuts.
