TD Securities Sees US GDP Growth Slowing Sharply in Q2

TD Securities forecasts US Q2 GDP to decelerate to 1.0% annualized, well below the 2.0% consensus, despite consumer and AI investment support.

TD Securities expects US economic growth to slow to a 1.0% annualized pace in the second quarter, significantly below the consensus estimate of 2.0%. The firm notes that underlying growth remains supported by a recovering consumer and AI-related investment, but headwinds from net exports and inventories are likely to drag on the headline figure. The outlook points to softening economic momentum as the Federal Reserve continues to assess the need for policy adjustments.
