Rabobank: Disinflation, Fiscal Risks Drive Weaker BRL Outlook
Rabobank notes the Brazilian Real recently strengthened to 5.0587 per dollar, but disinflation and fiscal concerns point to a weaker trajectory ahead.
In its latest Brazil weekly, Rabobank flags that the Brazilian Real (BRL) has recently appreciated, trading at BRL 5.0587 per U.S. Dollar. The move placed it among the top performers in the emerging-market currency space.
However, the bank cautions that the brighter spot is likely temporary. Disinflation trends and lingering fiscal risks are cited as key factors that are expected to guide the Real toward a weaker path moving forward.
The assessment suggests that the current strength may provide only a limited window before those headwinds reassert pressure on the currency.
