Pound Steadies Above 1.3420, Eyes US Jobs Data
The British pound edged higher on Tuesday, finding support near 1.3420 against the dollar and climbing above 1.3440 as traders await US job openings data.
Sterling found a floor around the 1.3420 level in early Tuesday trade before drifting higher to session peaks above 1.3440. The gains were modest as markets stayed on hold ahead of the US JOLTS job openings report.
The data is expected to offer fresh clues on labor-market strength and could sway Federal Reserve rate expectations. A softer print would likely weigh on the dollar, while a resilient reading may revive greenback demand.
With no major UK data on the calendar, the pound’s near-term direction remains tied to the US macro catalyst and broader risk sentiment.
