Mexican Peso Hits One-Month High on Hormuz Deal Hopes

The Mexican peso rallied to a one-month high on Tuesday, driven by speculation that US-Iran talks could reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease global inflation pressures.

The Mexican peso surged to its strongest level in a month on Tuesday, buoyed by reports that the United States and Iran are discussing a potential deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The key waterway's unimpeded access would normalize ship traffic and help cool global inflationary pressures, which in turn supports emerging-market currencies.

At the time of writing, the USD/MXN pair was trading at 17.26, having earlier touched a session high.
