Indonesian Rupiah Under Pressure After Consumer Confidence Tumbles
The Indonesian rupiah weakened after domestic consumer confidence fell to its lowest level since September 2025, with USD/IDR trading near 17,860 during Asian hours Monday.
The Indonesian rupiah faced renewed selling pressure on Monday after a domestically focused consumer sentiment gauge dropped sharply, hitting its weakest reading since September 2025. The data added to headwinds for the currency, which has been on the back foot in recent sessions.
USD/IDR held steady around the 17,860 mark in Asian trading, maintaining an upward bias. The pair had shed more than 0.5% in the previous trading day but quickly recovered, reflecting persistent demand for dollars against the rupiah.
Falling consumer confidence points to softer domestic demand and adds to the challenges facing the rupiah, which remains sensitive to both local economic data and global risk sentiment.
