Indonesian Rupiah Gains as Strong GDP, Soft USD Weigh on USD/IDR
USD/IDR fell to around 17,970 in Asian trading on Wednesday, pressured by robust Indonesian economic data and waning dollar demand, extending the Rupiah’s recent strength.
The USD/IDR pair edged lower on Wednesday, trading near 17,970 after posting modest gains the prior day. The depreciation reflects a firmer Indonesian rupiah, supported by solid domestic growth figures and reduced appetite for the greenback.
Indonesia’s latest GDP release signaled resilient economic activity, reinforcing the rupiah’s upbeat momentum. Simultaneously, a broadly softer US dollar added to the pair’s downward bias.
Market participants are watching for further cues on the pace of US monetary policy, as any dovish tilt could accelerate the decline in USD/IDR.
