Indian Rupee Weakens as Oil Recovery Lifts USD/INR

The Indian rupee opened weaker against the dollar on Monday, with USD/INR climbing back toward 95.22 as recovering oil prices and a firmer greenback weighed on the currency.

USDINR

The Indian rupee opened under pressure on Monday, sending the USD/INR pair back toward 95.22. The move came as crude oil prices extended their recovery, raising import-cost concerns for the energy-hungry economy.

The US dollar also found some support after a recent soft patch, helping the pair erase some of last week’s losses. Despite the drop, the rupee’s downside appeared limited, suggesting traders expect the currency to stabilize around current levels.
