Indian Rupee surges to three-week high on US-Iran peace hopes

The Indian Rupee opened the week with strong gains against the US Dollar, with USD/INR falling 0.25% to near 95.15, its lowest in over three weeks, amid optimism over US-Iran de-escalation.

USDINR

The Indian Rupee rallied sharply against the US Dollar at the start of the week, propelling the USD/INR pair down by 0.25% to around 95.15. This level marks the lowest for the pair in more than three weeks.

The decline extended a losing streak for the US Dollar versus the Rupee into a third consecutive trading day. Market sentiment was buoyed by renewed expectations of a diplomatic thaw between the United States and Iran, often referred to as “US-Iran peace 2.0,” which spurred demand for risk-sensitive currencies like the Rupee.

Trading volumes and broader emerging-market flows remain in focus as investors assess whether the de-escalation narrative can sustain further Rupee strength in the near term.
