Eurozone Matches US Growth in Q2 2026 as Data Surprises to the Upside

Both the Eurozone and the US expanded by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, with European growth figures landing at or above expectations despite energy-driven inflation pressures from the Middle East conflict.

The Eurozone economy grew 0.4% q/q in Q2 2026, matching the pace of US expansion over the same period. The result came as a welcome upside surprise for Europe, where aggregate growth met or exceeded forecasts.

Among the bloc’s largest members, France and Germany reported in-line outcomes, while Spain, Italy, and the Eurozone as a whole outperformed expectations. The positive data emerged even as the ongoing Middle East conflict contributed to energy-driven inflation, though the full impact remains to be seen.

The transatlantic growth parity may influence near-term euro-dollar dynamics as markets reassess relative economic momentum.
