Ebola Outbreak in Congo: Dozens of Healthcare Workers Infected, Chinese Team Arrives

Conflicting reports from the WHO indicate dozens of healthcare workers in Congo have been infected with Ebola, with varying death tolls. A Chinese medical team has arrived on the ground, and Uganda is preparing its own response team.

According to a WHO official in Bunia, over 60 healthcare workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been infected with Ebola, with 34 deaths reported. However, another source cited 75 infections and 17 deaths, creating conflicting accounts of the outbreak's severity among medical personnel.

In response, a Chinese medical team has arrived in Congo to assist with the Ebola outbreak. Uganda is also mobilizing a medical team in preparation for potential cross-border cases. The situation remains fluid as health authorities work to contain the virus.
