Dollar Index Slips Below 100 as Weak US Jobs Data Shifts Focus to Inflation

The US Dollar Index (DXY) broke below the 100.00 level after a disappointing July jobs report, with traders turning attention to upcoming inflation data.

The US Dollar Index fell through the 100.00 handle during Friday's session, marking a sharp decline. The move came after July Nonfarm Payrolls showed the US economy lost 23K jobs, defying expectations for an 80K gain. June's figure was also revised down to a 20K increase.

Average Hourly Earnings growth slowed to 3.2%, further dampening sentiment around the greenback. The soft labour market data fueled selling pressure, pushing DXY to fresh lows.

Attention now pivots to US inflation reports due in the coming week, which could determine the near-term path for the dollar.
