Crude Oil Drops as Market Prices Hormuz Deal, Not Peace

WTI and Brent crude fell over 1.5% on Thursday, with traders focusing on a potential Strait of Hormuz deal rather than a broader peace agreement.

Oil prices fell on Thursday even as the conflict driving crude markets escalated to a country that had been spared for five months. WTI traded just above $82.00, down more than 1.5%, while Brent held just above $86.50 with a nearly identical loss. Both benchmarks surrendered a chunk of Wednesday's gains, signaling that the market is pricing a Hormuz-related agreement rather than a wider peace deal.
