China chip revenue hits record $245bn as global share rises

China’s integrated circuit industry revenue climbed 22% year-over-year in 2025 to a record $245 billion, according to data highlighted by The Kobeissi Letter. Since 2020, Chinese chip industry sales have nearly doubled.
The growth has lifted China to roughly 6% of the global semiconductor market. That puts it roughly in line with Japan and the European Union at about 7% each, and Taiwan at about 6%. North America remains far ahead at 53%, while South Korea accounts for 21%.
The figures show China is rapidly emerging as a major global player in semiconductors.
