AUD/USD Edges Higher as Strong Job Ads, Inflation Data Signal Hawkish RBA

The Australian dollar rose against the US dollar after two days of losses, buoyed by a 2.0% monthly jump in ANZ-Indeed Job Ads and signs of resurgent inflation that could prompt a hawkish Reserve Bank of Australia.

AUDUSD

The Australian dollar edged higher on Tuesday, with AUD/USD trading near 0.7010 after two consecutive days of declines. The currency found support from robust domestic labor market data and renewed inflation concerns that could tilt the Reserve Bank of Australia toward a more hawkish posture.

ANZ–Indeed Job Ads rose 2.0% month-over-month in the latest reading, underscoring continued tightness in the employment market. This, alongside signs of resurgent price pressures, has increased market speculation that the RBA may need to maintain or even tighten policy settings to contain inflation.

While the pair’s upside was limited by broader US dollar strength, the Australian dollar’s reaction highlights how sensitive the currency remains to domestic data surprises. Traders will watch upcoming RBA commentary for further clues on the rate path.
