Yen erases half of post-intervention surge; USD/JPY pinned near 159.50

The Japanese yen has surrendered roughly half of its advance following a record intervention, with USD/JPY steady around 159.50 as it consolidates between key moving averages.

The Japanese yen has surrendered roughly half of the advance that followed a record-sized intervention.

On Tuesday, USD/JPY was pinned near 159.50 and barely moved inside a 47-pip band. Support sits at the 200-day moving average around 158.00, while a declining 50-day moving average overhead caps the upside.
