Equiti UK Pauses “New Medium and High-Risk Clients” Onboarding, Operates Only as a Liquidity Provider

Equiti Capital UK has paused onboarding medium- and high-risk clients and cut its liquidity-provider role, while 2025 revenue fell 24% to $24.4 million.

Equiti Capital UK, the Financial Conduct Authority-regulated arm of Equiti Group, has stopped taking on new medium- and high-risk clients and scaled back its role as a liquidity provider to other group entities. The move is part of a wider reduction in principal trading and risk-bearing activities, according to the company's latest Companies House filing.

The UK entity's 2025 net trading revenue fell 24% to $24.4 million, which the company attributed to the realignment of its operating model. Profit dropped sharply to $33,266 from $530,342 a year earlier, reflecting the revenue decline.

Despite the lower figures, Equiti said it continues to invest in staff, systems and operational capabilities to support its revised model. The filing said the transition is expected to deliver a more stable and predictable earnings profile, with reduced risk appetite and less exposure to trading-related volatility. Revenue going forward is expected to combine direct trading clients with support services provided to group entities.

Mohammed Isbeer, Chief Institutional Officer at Equiti Group, noted that market conditions in 2025, especially the strong performance of gold and silver, changed retail trading patterns and drew activity away from some other products. He added that the next phase for Equiti Group is growth-focused, including expanding the global institutional sales team and launching new products, while aiming to stay ahead of the industry's broader shift toward lower-risk and more diversified revenue models.

The UK business is a direct subsidiary of Equiti's Jersey-based holding company, whose ultimate owner is Chairman Waleed Al Bitar. Equiti holds licences in the UK, UAE and Cyprus, among other jurisdictions, and operates brokerage, payments and asset-management businesses across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Equiti has also continued expanding beyond traditional brokerage, recently opening a technology hub in India for engineering, data, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and cloud work. The group acquired digital payments firm Cloud Invest and has hired technology specialists, including a former Meta engineer to lead data and AI efforts.
