Zcash Ironwood Upgrade: New Shielded Pool, Supply Limit After Orchard Bug

The Zcash development team has agreed on consensus changes for the Ironwood upgrade, introducing a new shielded pool and a supply cap on ZEC following a recent vulnerability in the Orchard protocol, according to developer Sean Bowe.

The Zcash team has reached consensus on the consensus-layer changes required for the upcoming Ironwood network upgrade. Developer Sean Bowe stated the upgrade will deploy a new shielded pool and impose a limit on the total supply of ZEC, addressing the aftermath of a recently disclosed vulnerability in the Orchard shielded protocol.

Separately, the old liquidity pool will receive a distinct treatment, though specifics on its management were not detailed. The move is aimed at reinforcing privacy and network stability.
