USD/CAD Slides to 1.4080 as Easing Geopolitical Risks Weigh on Dollar

The Canadian dollar advanced against the US dollar on Monday, pushing USD/CAD toward 1.4080 in Asian trading as easing geopolitical tensions reduced safe-haven demand for the greenback.

USDCAD

USD/CAD slipped during Asian trading on Monday, retreating to around 1.4080 after posting minor gains in the previous session. The decline was driven by broad-based US dollar weakness.

The greenback fell sharply as geopolitical tensions eased, following reports of a weekend pause in military hostilities involving the United States. The pullback in risk aversion reduced demand for the safe-haven dollar and benefited currencies like the Canadian dollar.

Traders now look to further geopolitical developments and upcoming economic releases for the next catalyst. In the near term, USD/CAD remains under pressure as the risk environment improves.
