US Lifts Export Restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The US Department of Commerce has removed export restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 models. Fable 5 will be released globally on July 1 with a new safety classifier.

The US Department of Commerce has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 language models. According to the announcement, Anthropic will make Fable 5 available to users worldwide starting July 1.

To bring the model back, the company trained a new safety classifier designed to limit behaviors described in Amazon's report to authorities. If a request is blocked, the user will receive a notification and the request will be redirected to Claude Opus 4.8. Anthropic claims the new classifier detects a specific method in over 99% of cases.
