US Durable Goods Orders Rise 0.3% in June, Missing Expectations

New orders for manufactured durable goods in the US increased by $1.1 billion or 0.3% to $334.8 billion in June, falling short of the 1.6% forecast and following a 4% decline in May.

The US Census Bureau reported on Monday that new orders for manufactured durable goods rose $1.1 billion, or 0.3%, to $334.8 billion in June. The reading disappointed against the market consensus of a 1.6% increase and came after a revised 4% decline in May.

The weaker-than-expected data point suggests a slower recovery in factory demand, potentially weighing on the US dollar near term.
