US Drafts Ban on Foreign Energy Inverters Over China Cybersecurity Fears

The Trump administration is reportedly drafting a ban on foreign-made energy inverters, citing cybersecurity concerns linked to China. Enphase Energy is highlighted as the largest US-listed beneficiary.

The Trump administration is reportedly preparing a ban on foreign-made energy inverters, specifically targeting Chinese suppliers due to cybersecurity risks. The move would block inverter imports from China and potentially other foreign sources, reshaping the supply chain for solar and grid equipment.

According to the report, the largest direct US-listed beneficiaries would be domestic manufacturers of inverters, grid equipment, and power electronics. Enphase Energy (ENPH) is cited as the biggest potential winner—the leading US producer of solar microinverters and a direct substitute for Chinese inverter suppliers in the residential solar market.

If enacted, the ban could significantly shift market share away from Chinese suppliers, boosting US-based and allied-country producers.
