South Korea Unveils $520 Billion Semiconductor Mega-Cluster
South Korea announced a $520 billion plan to build the world's largest chipmaking hub, partnering with Samsung and SK Hynix to boost AI, memory, and logic chip production.
South Korea has announced a $520 billion semiconductor manufacturing project to create the world's largest chipmaking cluster. The initiative, a joint effort with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, aims to solidify the country's leadership in the global semiconductor industry.
The mega-project will include multiple advanced fabrication plants, research centers, and supporting industries, forming a complete semiconductor ecosystem. The cluster is expected to significantly increase production capacity for AI, memory, and advanced logic chips.
To support the project, the government plans to provide infrastructure, power, water, tax incentives, and regulatory backing. The cluster is projected to attract hundreds of suppliers and generate thousands of high-skilled jobs over the coming decades, enhancing supply chain resilience and competitiveness against rivals like the US, China, and Taiwan.
