Silver Slips Below $58 on Hawkish Fed Pause

Spot silver (XAG/USD) edged lower to around $57.90 in Asian trading after modest gains the prior day, pressured by expectations the Federal Reserve will keep rates on hold.

XAGUSD

Spot silver (XAG/USD) lost ground in early Asian trading, slipping to around $57.90 per troy ounce after posting modest gains the previous day.

The decline keeps the metal below the $58.00 mark, as a hawkish pause by the Federal Reserve dampens demand for non-yielding assets. Higher-for-longer U.S. interest rates tend to support the dollar and make precious metals less attractive.

Market participants are now focused on upcoming U.S. economic data that may offer clues on the Fed’s policy outlook. Without a dovish shift, silver could remain under pressure in the near term.
