S&P 500 Foreign Revenue Hits Record 42% of Total

U.S. corporations' foreign revenue share reached a record 42%, surpassing earlier peaks of 40% in 2015 and 39% during the dot-com bubble, driven largely by technology firms.

The proportion of S&P 500 revenue generated abroad has climbed to an all-time high of roughly 42%, according to data shared by The Kobeissi Letter. This exceeds the prior record of about 40% set in 2015 and the 39% seen during the 2000 dot-com bubble.

Technology companies are the primary driver, with overseas markets now accounting for over half of the sector's revenue. The communication services sector also shows a sharp increase, generating approximately 47% of revenue from foreign sources, up from below 40% before the pandemic.

The rise comes despite a surge in domestic AI investment, which was expected to concentrate revenue in the U.S. Instead, global economic interconnectedness continues to deepen.
