Ripio Launches Automatic Crypto Purchases (DCA)
Ripio rolled out Automatic Purchases, a dollar-cost averaging tool, to users in Argentina and Brazil, enabling recurring crypto buys from its app.
Latin American crypto platform Ripio has introduced a new feature called Automatic Purchases, designed to let users apply a dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy directly from its app. The functionality is now available in Argentina and Brazil, two of the company's key markets.
The launch responds to a common pattern in volatile markets, where investors buy at a single point in time, see prices fall, and then sell under uncertainty. Ripio notes the issue is often behavioral rather than informational, and says the tool is meant to help users avoid impulsive decisions by making the purchase process systematic.
How the feature works
Users can set up a plan by selecting an asset — BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, or DAI — along with a fixed amount in fiat or crypto and a frequency of weekly, biweekly, or monthly. At each scheduled interval, the platform automatically executes a purchase at the prevailing price, debits the available balance (in fiat or supported crypto), and credits the asset to the user's wallet. Each execution is independent and tied only to that period.
Plans can be paused, resumed, or canceled at any time. Purchases occur only when there is sufficient balance; the platform does not execute partial orders, incur debts or negative balances, or retry failed executions.
Ripio says the goal is to reduce the impact of volatility on average purchase price, minimize impulsive trading, and make it easier for users to follow a consistent strategy. The company adds that the feature reflects how product design can support new habits by automating a process many users were already attempting manually.
