Poloniex Establishes $100 Million User Protection Fund

Poloniex has launched a $100 million User Protection Fund, adding a new layer of asset protection for users alongside its existing Proof of Reserves and Beacon Network membership.

Crypto exchange Poloniex said on April 6, 2026 that it has established a $100 million User Protection Fund, a dedicated reserve intended to improve asset security for users globally and reinforce the platform's safety commitments.

The fund acts as a security reserve to help the exchange weather extreme scenarios and provides an additional cushion for customer assets. According to the announcement, it complements Poloniex's existing Proof of Reserves system, which already aims to ensure full 1:1 backing of user assets. Together, the two mechanisms are designed to protect user funds on multiple levels.

The initiative is the latest component of Poloniex's multi-layered security framework. The exchange said it has published Merkle tree-based Proof of Reserves reports for more than 20 consecutive months, with reserve ratios maintained above 100% throughout. Users can independently verify the data on its official website.

In August 2025, Poloniex also joined TRM Labs' Beacon Network as a founding member. The network is described as the first real-time crypto crime response network, and Poloniex said it works with global law enforcement through the partnership to combat illicit financial activity. The new User Protection Fund builds on both the Proof of Reserves reports and the Beacon Network membership.

Further details, including trigger mechanisms and coverage scope for the fund, are expected in upcoming announcements. Poloniex framed the move as part of its broader Your Crypto Hometown promise, saying security remains fundamental to the platform.
