Plus500 Acquires Brazilian Broker Guru, Expanding South American Ecosystem

Plus500 has conditionally agreed to acquire Brazilian broker-dealer Guru, funded from its $860m+ cash pile, gaining CVM and central bank licences and a local base for its Latin American build-out.

Plus500 has conditionally agreed to acquire full ownership of Guru Corretora de Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltd, a regulated Brazilian broker-dealer, the London-listed firm announced on Tuesday. The purchase will be funded entirely from Plus500's existing cash resources of more than $860 million.

Buying Guru hands Plus500 local licences from Brazil's securities regulator, the CVM, and the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB). Those permissions give the group scope to widen its domestic product range beyond its core contracts-for-difference business into Brazilian stocks, futures, options and fixed-income instruments.

"Brazil is one of the world's most attractive trading markets, and acquiring Guru gives us the licence, the experienced local team and the regulatory framework to thrive," chief executive David Zruia said.

Building a regional ecosystem

The transaction is intended to act as a local anchor for Plus500's institutional push across South America. Earlier this month the company unveiled a B2B partnership with Nelogica, a regional trading technology provider, linking Plus500's clearing and execution infrastructure to Nelogica's BlackArrow platform so that Brazilian and other regional financial institutions can reach CME Group derivatives.

Plus500's first physical presence in South America came in 2025, when it secured authorisation from Colombia's Financial Superintendence to open a representative office in the country.

The Guru deal follows closely on Plus500's agreement to acquire Hedge, a US broker-dealer regulated by FINRA, which the company framed as essential infrastructure for its North American expansion and a multi-asset retail rollout in the United States. Hedge is already authorised by the CFTC and provides clearing and execution for futures as well as prediction markets to retail and institutional clients. Plus500 has also rolled out prediction-market contracts sourced from Kalshi through its Plus500 Futures arm, and was named clearing partner for a new prediction-market venture introduced by CME and FanDuel.

According to Zruia, the Hedge acquisition lays the groundwork for a Plus500 US "super app", which is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027.
