Perplexity Unveils Research Version of Orchestrator Model for Local AI Agent

Perplexity has released a research version of its new orchestrator model for the Perplexity Computer local AI agent, based on China's GLM 5.2 and fine-tuned for agent environments.

Perplexity has introduced a research version of a new orchestrator model for its local AI agent Perplexity Computer. The system is built on China's GLM 5.2 and fine-tuned to operate in an agent environment. It functions as an agentic system that can distribute tasks across multiple AI models, orchestrating more than 19 LLMs. The adapted GLM is intended to serve as a low-cost base layer for most tasks.

The company's next step is post-training of Nemotron 3 Ultra, another open model it plans to adapt for Computer.
