NZD/USD Hits Fresh YTD Lows Below 0.5650 as USD Soars

The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) extends its slide, falling to new year-to-date lows under 0.5650 against the US Dollar, driven by Federal Reserve tightening expectations and safe-haven demand for the USD.

The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) continues to weaken, dropping below 0.5650 for the first time this year. The move comes as expectations of further monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve boost the US Dollar, while a deteriorating market mood fuels demand for safe-haven assets.

The NZD/USD pair shows no signs of bottoming as sellers remain in control. The combination of a hawkish Fed outlook and risk aversion weighs heavily on the Kiwi, leaving it vulnerable to further losses against a broadly stronger greenback.
