Microsoft Adds 31 Data Centers This Quarter, On Track to Double Capacity

Microsoft CEO announced the company added 31 data centers globally this quarter, bringing the year's total to 88, with an extra gigawatt of capacity, while affirming a plan to roughly double capacity within two years.

During an earnings conference call, Microsoft’s CEO provided an update on the company’s infrastructure expansion. The tech giant deployed 31 new data centers across five continents in the recent quarter, raising its total for the year to 88 facilities.

The CEO also highlighted the addition of another gigawatt of capacity, and confirmed that Microsoft remains on track to approximately double its overall capacity over a two-year period. The rapid buildout reflects the company’s push to support growing demand for cloud and artificial intelligence workloads.
