Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi responded to President Trump’s announcement of a 20% fee for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the president is “absolutely right” to seek compensation for safe passage. Araghchi asserted Iran has always been and will remain the guardian of the strait. However, he argued that 20% is too high and pledged that Iran would be fair in setting the fee.
