Indonesian Rupiah Lingers Near Record Lows Despite 5.75% Benchmark Rate

The Indonesian Rupiah remains under pressure near the record low of 18,247 per dollar, even as Bank Indonesia holds its key rate at 5.75%.

USDIDR

The Indonesian Rupiah continued to weaken against the US Dollar through the first half of 2026, with USD/IDR trading around the 18,100–18,200 range. The pair hit an all-time high of 18,247 on June 8, highlighting the currency’s persistent depreciation.

Bank Indonesia has maintained its benchmark interest rate at 5.75%, but that has done little to stem the Rupiah’s slide. The central bank’s rate stance and external dollar pressures have kept the currency near historic lows.
