IBM Links Two Cryogenic Modules in Quantum Computing Push

IBM has connected two supercooled modules into a single quantum system, a step it says will help link more quantum chips and increase qubit counts.

IBM has combined two ultra-cold modules into one quantum system. The company described the move as another step toward larger-scale quantum computers.

The approach is designed to allow more quantum chips to be connected in the future, expanding the number of qubits that can be used in a single system. IBM did not provide additional technical details in the announcement.

Quantum computing development has focused on scaling qubit counts while maintaining system stability, and IBM’s modular approach is intended to address that challenge.
