DXY struggles near 100 after suspected Japanese intervention

The US Dollar Index is having trouble holding an early recovery on Friday, trading near the 100 level. Suspected Japanese FX intervention and the chance of direct US action are keeping the greenback under pressure.

DXY

The US Dollar Index (DXY) has been unable to sustain a modest Friday bounce, slipping back toward the critical 100 handle.

Traders are digesting the fallout from what many see as another round of stealth intervention by Japanese authorities to support the yen. Talk of possible direct steps by the United States — whether verbal or otherwise — is adding to the hesitant tone.

With the DXY hovering near a major psychological support, the next few sessions will test whether intervention fears and a shifting policy narrative can push the index decisively below 100.
