CoinShares Survey Reveals Gap Between European Wealth Managers and Client Crypto Investments

A CoinShares survey of 261 wealth managers across five European countries found that clients have already invested in digital assets but advisors often remain unaware, creating a 'management gap.' Internal company policies are the primary cause, with 61% of managers working at firms that ban or lack clear rules for crypto.

CoinShares polled 261 wealth management professionals in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the UK. The key finding: clients are already invested in digital assets, but many advisors do not know about it — a phenomenon researchers term the 'management gap.'

According to the survey, 25% of European advisors have more than half of their clients' crypto portfolios outside their visibility. In the UK, the figure reaches 52%. The main driver is not a lack of knowledge or demand but internal company policies. Around 61% of respondents work at firms that either ban cryptocurrency transactions or have no clear guidelines for handling them.
