China's First Floating Solar Plant Over Mine Water Runs in Ningxia
A 23 MW floating solar facility in Lingwu has been grid-connected since 2022 and generates about 32.39 million kWh per year.
The project is located in Lingwu, northwest China's Ningxia, and is described as China's first floating solar power plant built over a mine-water area. It was first connected to the grid in 2022.
With total installed capacity of 23 MW, the plant produces roughly 32.39 million kWh of electricity annually. According to the data, this displaces about 9,875 tonnes of standard coal per year and reduces CO2 emissions by around 27,000 tonnes annually.
The facility highlights the use of former mining water areas for renewable energy generation.
