CBRT tight funding offers marginal support for Turkish Lira – Commerzbank

Commerzbank analyst Tatha Ghose says the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye's tight funding stance, with the repo window closed and effective rates near 40%, provides only marginal support for the Turkish Lira.

Commerzbank's Tatha Ghose commented on the Turkish Lira, noting that the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) kept its one-week repo rate unchanged at 37.0%. The interest rate corridor remains at 35.5%–40.0%.

With the repo window still closed, effective funding costs are near the upper end of the corridor, around 40%. Ghose views this tight funding as providing only marginal support for the currency.

The analyst's remarks highlight the limited impact of current monetary policy on the lira's outlook.
