USD/CAD slipped to a six-week low near 1.3996 on Thursday as the US dollar came under broad selling pressure. A sharp rally in the Japanese yen, widely attributed to suspected intervention by Japanese authorities, sent the greenback tumbling across the board.
The loonie’s strength pushed the pair through the 1.4000 handle for the first time in weeks, putting it on track for a third straight session of declines. At the time of writing, USD/CAD was holding around 1.3996.
