Binance Lite Loan: 30 Days, No Bitcoin Liquidation

Binance launched Lite Loan, letting eligible users borrow up to 1,000 USDT against bitcoin with no liquidation in the first 30 days and a 0.5% promotional fee through Sept. 3.

Binance has introduced Lite Loan, a bitcoin-backed borrowing product designed for retail customers seeking small, short-term liquidity without selling their crypto. Eligible users can borrow up to 1,000 USDT against bitcoin and use the funds for trading or payments through Binance Pay.

Borrowers can pledge bitcoin held in spot wallets or in Binance Simple Earn Flexible products, meaning the collateral can continue earning yield while the loan remains outstanding. Jeff Li, Binance's vice president of product, said Lite Loan is meant for users who want access to liquidity without the complexity that often accompanies crypto borrowing.

The product charges a one-time service fee rather than interest during the initial 30-day loan period. Binance is running a promotional fee of 0.5% until Sept. 3, after which the fee rises to 1%. Lite Loan is open to verified customers who meet Binance's compliance requirements and hold enough bitcoin to cover the borrowed amount.

The product's key feature is that bitcoin price changes do not trigger liquidation during the first 30 days. Binance says this structure addresses a major barrier to crypto-backed lending, citing research showing that 88% of cryptocurrency holders would consider borrowing against their assets, while only 14% currently do, often due to volatility and forced liquidation concerns.

The protection ends after the first month. Borrowers who do not repay by the deadline may extend the loan for another 30 days, but the terms become significantly more expensive and collateral is exposed to standard liquidation rules. Interest accrues at an annualized rate of 36%, margin calls are triggered at an 85% loan-to-value ratio, and liquidation can occur at 91%. If the loan remains unpaid after the second period, pledged bitcoin may be sold to repay the balance.

Lite Loan fills a gap below Binance's existing lending products. Flexible Rate Loans use variable interest and continuous loan-to-value monitoring, Fixed Rate Loans require a minimum of 50,000 USDT, and VIP Loans target institutions with larger limits and negotiated terms. Lite Loan offers a smaller cap and a temporary liquidation pause, but borrowers who miss repayment face sharply higher costs and renewed exposure to bitcoin price swings.
