AUD/USD Holds Near 0.7000 on Easing Middle East Tensions, RBA Rate Hopes

The Australian dollar traded near the 0.7000 mark against the greenback for a second straight session Monday, supported by reduced geopolitical risks and hawkish central bank expectations.

AUD/USD extended its advance for a second consecutive day during Asian trading on Monday, hovering close to the 0.7000 level. The pair benefited from a softer US dollar amid an easing of tensions in the Middle East and a decline in oil prices.

Expectations that the Reserve Bank of Australia will maintain a tightening bias also underpinned the Aussie. Market pricing suggests the RBA is likely to keep rates higher for longer compared to its US counterpart, narrowing the policy divergence.

The greenback weakened broadly as safe-haven demand faded, while the drop in crude oil relieved some pressure on the Australian dollar. Traders now await further catalysts from US economic data due later this week.
