Alphabet Plans New 'Frozen' Chip to Boost AI Model Efficiency

Alphabet is developing a server chip that directly integrates the design of its Gemini AI model, aiming for 6-10 times greater efficiency than its current AI chips.

Alphabet (GOOGL) is planning to launch a new "frozen" server chip designed to run its AI models more efficiently, according to a report from The Information.

The chip would directly integrate the blueprint of Alphabet's Gemini AI model, allowing the company to deliver its AI models to users with significantly improved efficiency.

Developers estimate that the new chip will be 6 to 10 times more efficient than the most recent version of Google's existing line of AI chips. This move marks another major tech company entering the custom chip race to optimize AI performance.
