AI Unmasks Vitalik Buterin's Anonymous Ethereum Document in Privacy Test
In a privacy experiment, Vitalik Buterin anonymously published an Ethereum document. AI identified it as his work, beating his attempts to disguise his writing style.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, conducted an experiment to test how much artificial intelligence threatens online privacy. He anonymously published a document and challenged the community to find it.
The winner was Franklin Wang, head of Co-Invest. His team used AI to analyze 27 texts and successfully pinpointed EIP-7503 from December 2024 as Buterin's anonymous submission.
Buterin attempted to hide his writing style by composing the text in Chinese, translating it into English via the Qwen 2.5 model, and then manually editing it. Despite these efforts, the AI detected his habitual pattern of explaining mathematical and technical concepts, rather than relying on linguistic quirks.
