US dollar holds below 100 before US retail sales

The dollar index slipped back under 100 after softer PPI and higher jobless claims data, with traders awaiting the US retail sales release.

The US dollar was steady but softer ahead of the US retail sales report, with the Dollar Index trading back below the 100.00 level.

Thursday's data showed producer prices rose less than expected while weekly jobless claims came in above forecasts. That combination trimmed market bets on further Federal Reserve policy action.

Traders now look to the upcoming retail sales print for the next directional cue for the greenback.
