SEC Proposes Easing Token Offering Rules for US Crypto Firms

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has floated a plan that would let crypto companies raise token-based funding under simplified rules, including a safe harbor for certain assets.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission is proposing softer registration rules for crypto companies operating in the United States.

Under the draft framework, firms could raise up to $5 million through token sales over four years, or up to $75 million per year using a simplified process. The proposal also includes a safe harbor for certain crypto assets, allowing them to avoid securities-law requirements if specific conditions are met.

The move points to a more accommodating regulatory approach for token-based fundraising.
