OpenAI Revenue Growth Lags as Anthropic Moves into Profit

OpenAI's second-quarter revenue increased 18% to $6.7 billion from $5.7 billion, but the pace was far slower than at Anthropic. Anthropic's revenue more than doubled to $11.6 billion, allowing it to surpass OpenAI for the first time, according to The Wall Street Journal.

OpenAI's operating loss widened to $12.3 billion from $9.3 billion, while Anthropic reached a small operating profit. Anthropic's momentum has been driven by enterprise adoption and its Claude Code product, increasing pressure on OpenAI as both companies prepare for possible IPOs.
