NZD/USD slips below 0.5900 as weak China data weighs

NZD/USD traded near 0.5895 in Asian hours Tuesday after Chinese retail sales and industrial production missed expectations.

NZDUSD

The New Zealand dollar softened against the US dollar during Asian trading on Tuesday, with NZD/USD falling to around 0.5895 and holding below the 0.5900 level.

Weaker-than-expected Chinese retail sales and industrial production figures for July pressured the China-proxy New Zealand dollar, as softer Chinese activity tends to reduce demand expectations for New Zealand exports.

The move keeps the pair below the round 0.5900 handle, with the data highlighting concerns about China's economic momentum.
